What class should I sign up for?
Adults: Many of our adult classes are divided by an NTRP rating provided by the USTA. You can find a description of these here. Some of the adult classes are open to all levels but if you are a beginner you may feel more comfortable at the 2.5 or intro classes.
Kids: Our youth classes are divided by ages and skill levels. If your child is new to the game, a beginner class in their age group is best. As they progress, our staff will let you or them know when it’s time to move up. Whats the difference between a private lesson and a class? which one should i do?
Our classes are FREE for our members and private lessons are not. Private lessons are an excellent way to be introduced to the game and to make sure you don’t pick up any bad habits. For some people, starting with the one on one instruction can make a big difference. Lessons are also an important part of improving in tennis as you get more and more invested and competitive. Tennis is a game that requires a lot of technique and agility, and using that proper technique is important to be able to play injury free and compete at higher levels.
Our clinics are fun and give you a great chance to practice your skills. Of course, most of them have plenty of instruction too but you will not always receive the one on one attention that you would in a private lesson. Some of our classes are large, but we like to keep everyone moving and hitting as many balls as possible - as well as making sure everyone is having a great time. You can see more information about what to expect in some of our class descriptions.
Are your classes really free for your members?
Yes! OTC is a non profit that specializes in low cost, high quality tennis instruction. We run programs year round and charge a very reasonable monthly rate that allows our members to attend as many classes as they wish, 12 months of the year. Our director, Jason Zoladz is a USPTA Elite professional and has been teaching tennis for over 20 years. He has an amazing staff of pros to help with the classes, and we also have a high school player internship program to help introduce kids to teaching tennis.
I am not a member - can I come to a class?
Yes! You can sign up for a class as a non-member and pay the per class rate as indicated.
Can I try a class?
Yes! We offer a free trial class to make sure you will enjoy what we have to offer! If you are interested in trying a class or have any other questions, text our director, Jason 919-357-3467.
What do i need to bring for class?
A racquet, we have extras if you don’t have one. Appropriate athletic apparel and sneakers, we recommend tennis shoes. Some water and sunscreen if necessary. If you know you’re going to need a racquet for a class, it may be a good idea to text Jason and let him know so he can make sure there will be extra racquets. He can also help you purchase a racquet if you’re interested.
Can I donate to OTC? Is it tax-deductible?
